TIME TRAVEL WITH SCATS COUNTRYSTORES IN ANDOVER
Pupils from nearby Shipton Bellinger Primary School joined the Store Manager of SCATS Countrystores in Andover on Friday 13th November, to bury a time capsule under the entrance of the new store development at the Andover Trade Park just off Weyhill Road.
Over 20 pupils from each year of the school created drawings of ?what the countryside means to them? which were mounted and buried in the capsule alongside other items including a school t-shirt & hat, the latest Andover Advertiser, audio from that mornings Andover Sound breakfast show and significant literature and information from SCATS Countrystores on the new store.
Four lucky pupils including the Head boy and Head Girl accompanied their Head teacher to take part and watch the capsule being buried.
Stephen Bennett, Headmaster from Shipton Bellinger Primary School, ?It was really great to be involved in this project and the children thoroughly enjoyed playing their part in creating items for the capsule. It was fun to watch as it was lowered into its new home and a nice way to educate pupils about the links between past, present and future.?
Paul Goater, Store Manager of SCATS Countrystores in Andover, ?We really wanted to personalise our new store by leaving a collection of items for future generations to discover and it was great to involve local school children. The development continues to progress well and we?re now looking forward to our official launch next February.? Currently trading from two temporary sites in Andover, the leading rural retailer will move into their brand new purpose built premises on the Andover Trade Park in late February next year.
The spacious new store will allow for extended core ranges including a comprehensive animal health department, country clothing ranges with all the top name brands plus all the pet, garden and equestrian essentials you?d expect from a quality country store.
The improved facilities will also include a new animal feed store and dedicated yard area stocking agricultural, equestrian and garden timber fencing, fertilisers, composts and agricultural and garden hardware.
